Note from the editor :

On the 7th of January 2013 one Peter Horsfall from the United Kindom wrote to me with pictures of some parts of the Admiralty Floating Dock 23 being salvaged. It was thrilling to see pictures more than four decades old. Here is his story and the pictures!

Hello Dharshana,
I was interested to see the article on your site from Geoff Spooner about the Floating Dock in Trinco Harbour:

My family used to live in Sri Lanka and frequently visited Trinco (Sea Anglers Club). I forwarded a link to the article to my father, Mike Horsfall. We both remembered the partial salvage operation that took place in the late 60s - early 70s. My father sent me some photos (which I have scanned and attached) which he believes he took in May 1971, they show the salvaged portion of the dock being towed out of Frenchman's Pass, between Sober Island and the mainland (where work was done on it after it was brought to the surface) on its way to Taiwan (my father believes).  We thought you might be interested in these pictures.
I remember that before the salvage the only piece of the dock that was visible (between Sober Island and Little Sober Island) was a crane sticking out of the water.
Interestingly the Witte Zee's predecessor (the tug pulling the dock) is now itself a diving wreck site off the Isle of Wight in the UK! http://www.divernet.com/Wrecks/wreck_tours/159455/wreck_tour_23_the_witte_zee.html
